Week 3 — From Home to Schulenburg

Day 15. Since waking on Thanksgiving Day this year, I have now walked far enough to do a virtual journey from home to The Farmhouse, where Zach and Bekah were married the weekend after Thanksgiving.

Day 16. And now I’ve walked far enough to have made it to the Sam Houston Statue, a fair hike up the road toward Dallas.

Day 17. Since Thanksgiving Morn, I have now walked enough to make it to Martha’s Bloomers in Navasota TX. I wanted to drive up there with SuziQ today to celebrate with lunch at their cafe, but our day was already clogged with too many appointments, then got even more loaded up with new PotCPMCA business. Oh well, walk on.

Day 19. A hectic PotCPMCA schedule has kept my pace down the past two days, but so far I’m still on target for reaching my goal of Manhattan in time for the 2018 Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade. And so far I’ve walked far enough to make it to Beaumont, well down the road toward making it out of Texas.

Day 20. One of my most active PotCPMCA days gave me enough to get me to Port Arthur TX, birthplace of Janis Joplin.

Day 21. I close out my 3rd week on this year’s walking journey in Schulenburg TX, the “Gateway to the Rolling Hills” and home to the Texas Polka Music Museum. Oops, gotta walk back home to grab my baritone horn, then come back here better prepared.

  1. I’m going to begin keeping my Fitbit charger in the car. It’s so natural a place to keep it, I don’t know why it never occurred to me before. Like yeah, sure, my Fitbit’s nag feature has this penchant for encouraging me to go for a walk when we’re cruising down the highway at 60mph. But seriously, that’s the best time to be giving its battery a boost instead.

If I go enough days without driving or riding, I’ll know where to find it . . . and then will just need to remember to put it back!
