Price Ain’t Right

QGuess how many billion more that $850 billion bailout package (as in, $700 billion for Wall Street, plus another $150 billion for special interests needed in order to swing the votes necessary to get Congress to swallow the bill) would have been needed to extend the bailout to Social Security account-holders if President Bush had managed to push through enough of his economic plan to get Social Security privatized as he has insisted it must be.

And I still look for a Dow below 10k before the end of 2008. – aftermath (10/2)

Only five days ago, as most market analysts looked for enactment of bailout legislation to reverse the precipitous drop that the previous Monday’s rejection of the bill by the House had been blamed for causing, as many market analysts decided that we had seen that elusive market floor, as absolutely none of those analysts were mentioning 4-digit Dow levels, only five days ago I reiterated my own conviction that we were headed below 10,000 for the Dow. Tangled Up In Dylan

leave a comment »

Recently I’ve been dreaming a lot of a new Dylan album, all new material, the songs all deep and haunting, in last night’s version all but the last song dark with warning, but the last song lifting out with bright promise. In last night’s dream, the entire album played as background music to scenes in the blocks nearby the pre-9/11 WTC as lawlessness was the order, and we were stalked and attacked several times.

Less than interested in continuing those scenes farther than they kept persisting in reaching, I woke and re-started my dreaming. The Manhattan scenes were gone as desired, but Dylan’s new album continued playing in the background.
