In a WordPress Minute

leave a comment »

in a wordpress minute

I admit it: I was stupid enough to waste half an hour refreshing this every other minute before realizing their minutes are what we call days. But I do learn quickly: next time, first time I get this, I’ll not return until the next day. If then, even.

Customer Service Lesson #1: Say you’ll be back in an hour, so your customers don’t waste that hour counting every minute, and they’ll be back in an hour, even if it takes you a few minutes past that.  Say you’ll be back in a minute when you know you won’t be, and eventually they’ll just stop coming back at all.

Eh, but maybe I’m not giving WordPress enough credit. They probably were back every minute to post a new message saying they’d be back in another minute, don’t you think?

Pool’s In Session

with one comment

pool's in session
The water is quite comfortable! 82° to be exact. I’m the first one to venture into the pool this season, but we could probably have been swimming for the past two weeks at least. Watch for me to put in an appearance here regularly now.

Before jumping in, I did a bit more trimming of the overgrowth above the fence in the background of this shot. Still a lot more to do, obviously, but watch for me to put in more regular appearances there as well. And I cleaned most of the junk off the surface and bottom of the pool. And I did relax a little. Swam. Floated.

Black Sock Left, Navy Right

black sock left, navy right
One risk inherent in keeping my old “walking shoes” around for yard work and such, after getting myself a newer pair to wear into the office: when both pairs mix it up partying under the bed, I need to be a little more careful about pairing them up. Sometime within the past several weeks – before I went to New Orleans, I think, so this would have affected what I was wearing to my meetings there – I left what I thought were the old pair back in my closet, then had been wearing what I thought to be my new pair from bedside. Today I only happened to look more closely at them, else who knows how much longer this pairing might have persisted. Noodlenoggin! Eh, at least I didn’t try to pair a right with a right.

berg indulgence

I can’t quickly find this Anthon Berg delight popping up anywhere on the Internet just yet, but as long as Susan and Nat can continue to find the product itself wherever they discovered it and keep my nightstand adquately supplied, that’s link enough for me.

All Aboard!

Today I will be singing Dylan songs that refer to trains in honor of National Train Day. Starting with House of the Rising Sun and Freight Train Blues – even though those were only covered by Bob, he did them justice. Ditto “I Was Young When I Left Home” from No Direction Home. Putting my ear to the tracks in Trouble and charming the whistle in Silvio, then riding out on Bob Dylan’s Dream and It Takes a Lot to Laugh, It Takes a Train to Cry and I’ll Keep It with Mine and Paths of Victory and Little Sadie and Goin’ to Acapulco and Down in the Flood and Stack A Lee and Sittin’ On Top of the World and Something’s Burning, Baby and of course Slow Train. And Honey, Just Allow Me One More Chance When I Paint My Masterpiece to come Standing in the Doorway and ask Where Are You Tonight? Even what Mona tried to warn about in Stuck Inside of Mobile with the Memphis Blues Again, and even those two men in I and I, and and even his memory of that Brownsville Girl, and even his Last Thoughts on Woodie Guthrie. And I’ll throw in Visions of Johanna‘s D train and the caboose from Only a Pawn In Their Game for good measure. And everything else in between from Simple Twist of Fate and Train A-Travelin‘ and Ballad for a Friend and John Brown and Poor Boy Blues beyond to Gypsy Lou and to Walk Out In The Rain and to Silent Weekend and to Things Have Changed and to When the Deal Goes Down.

I will polish up my memorandum on how the safety valve cannot be used to excuse discrimintory plan amendments.

Gertie will get a clean cage today. And I will clip some more of the foliage in the back yard. After which I will take the first pool dip of the season.
