Another Unexpected Spectator

unexpected spectator

A girl oughtn’t need be demandin’
for her guy to remain in good standin’
so let’s give a loud cheer
for who did make it here —
It’s Nat’s favorite spectator Brandon!!

Last night at our dinner table Brandon had suggested he might not make it to Nat’s final cheerleading performance, rather might go to see the Houston Rockets put their 15-game winning streak on the line. But surprise surprise, he made it here! (And ummmm, after checking repeatedly via my cell phone trying to get a Rockets’ score update, I would later find out that the Rockets didn’t have a game anyway……Hmmmmm.)

Kelly doesn’t even like basketball. He’s only here for Nat’s halftime cheerleading routine.

Dreamin’ of Truckin’

I asked the captain what his name was
And how come he didn’t drive a truck

bob

If I weren’t an actuary, I’d drive a truck. I’ve been known to drive a whole day and back for a good cup of coffee.

These days, prospects for that career might not be all that bad, comparatively speaking. While prognosticators mull the potential demise of the defined benefit pension plan system that is at the core of my professional experience and expertise, I’ve seen fewer actuarial Internet searches finding their way to this weblog than searches for “truck driver shortage,” which seems to have a bit of growing persistence in bringing visitors to my weblog . . . visitors who probably then quickly feel like a trucker who took the wrong turn on the Internet superhighway.

No Good At Closure

End employment as an executive part-owner of a closely held firm, and should you have to be the one processing all the wind-up administration work???

Noodlenoggin that I was, I would not have thought so. Maybe if you’re no longer going to be one of the company’s partners, you have to step out of your partner’s business suit and do some “real work” for once to be sure that everything is properly closed out. Contact every single client who might have had your phone number and business address to emphasize that you will no longer be there? Cancel all subscriptions, even of the simplest magazine subscriptions? Contact the painters to make sure the office gets properly refurbished? Where does the line get drawn?
