“The risks to this outlook remain to the downside.”

Federal Reserve Chairman Ben S. Bernanke (27 feb 2008)

Kaboom! Kicked out of bed! Dumped on the floor!
Then all she said’s, “You know the reason why.”
I don’t get why. I only get what for.

The left side? or the right? Mine’s neither nor:
The downside’s where my head will have to lie.
Kaboom! Kicked out of bed! Dumped on the floor!

I must have ticked her off – She’s rather sore,
as deeply red as sunrise in the sky.
I don’t get why. I only get what for.

In case there’s anybody keeping score,
don’t be misled: my ass can really fly!
Kaboom! Kicked out of bed! Dumped on the floor!

Another kick might fly me through the door
with not one shred of hope before my eye.
I don’t get why. I only get what for.

I would have liked to sleep an hour more
or maybe two. Instead, sweet dreams, goodbye!
Kaboom! Kicked out of bed! Dumped on the floor!
I don’t get why. I only get what for.

What I’m Gonna Be

Would you rather be a: rockstar (1) or athlete (2) ?

strawpoll

Response: rockstar – I would rather make a record than break a record.

I’ll be a teenage idol, just give me a break
I’m gonna be a teenage idol no matter how long it takes
You can’t imagine what it means to me
I’m gonna grab myself a place in history
A teenage idol that’s what I’m gonna be

That is many an actuary’s secret desire: an audience.

Express Tuna

leave a comment »

cafe express

Tuna salad sandwich, a cup of black bean soup, and a Caesar’s salad at Cafe Express with Susan for a lunch shared with Lisa . . . and surprise guest Mike! Susan and I may be house-sitting for Lisa next week. And Mike helped me remember the name of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act – the way my memory operates, six months in a job where SOX is no concern, and I forget the name of the law as easily as I forget my mother’s name (which I do from time to time); whereas today is the SOX deadline for Mike to get his company’s annual financial statement filed, so for him it’s as much a part of daily routine as pulling on his socks.

The food itself was good, although I’d take Panera over Cafe Express if I had to choose faves for a soup-and-sandwich lunch.

Which do you dread visiting more: doctor (1) or dentist (2) ?

strawpoll

Response: doctor – Because my dentist wouldn’t dare drill where my doc’s rubber-gloved finger goes probing.

And you can give me all the root canals you want as long as you let me suck on that gas. I already have more than enough gas at the end the doc wants to invade, thank you very much.

Lunch at Panera

leave a comment »

lunch at paneraTuna salad sandwich and a bowl of chicken rice soup, with the french bread side, at Panera Bread down across the Gulf Freeway from Baybrook.

The soup would have been worth a second bowl if I had been in the mood for stuffing myself. Even the carrots, which were just right, cooked just enough to give the soup the flavor the carrots were meant to give it.
