Good BP Bad Cough

leave a comment »

Felt well enough today to make it up out of my bed and down the road into my office, but wore myself down enough there to sweep the afternoon away into a nap’s deep oblivion, aided by a swig of NyQuil.

Still low on energy through this evening, just puttered through some more archiving and deleting over at ADASTWJournal, where collective delusions are the only sign of any life remaining. *shrug* Another swig of NyQuil a few minutes from now, and hopefully I’ll sleep better tonight than I’ve managed to do so far this week.

At least my BP is down close to where we like to see it.

Overdoing Our School Bus Stops

leave a comment »

Maybe this day’s just been too long or maybe I should have just spent another one recuperating from my flu, so forgive me if I’m just being an old curmudgeon. But when did we start babying our teen students so much that we just about drop them on their doorsteps?

This bus has just put its blinkers on to stop at Scarsdale and Sagemeadow to let out some students, after having just stopped at Scarsdale and Sagepark, then again at Scarsdale and Sagewind!!

Would it be too much to ask to have the bus make one single stop combining all three of those locations?

Commuter’s Zen

leave a comment »

Commuter's ZenIt took me a few weeks of using the Christmas present that gives me my Zen’s music piped through the Blue Bug’s radio before it sank in that placement of the device higher on the dashboard works better than if it is down in the ash tray. Then another week to find the thing included with the device which can be used to mount it to my car’s dashboard. Then a day of carrying that thing around before I took the break to actually mount the thing.

Update – This placement did work quite well, giving me the best commute of Zen music I’ve had. But by the end of a single commute, the mount was coming loose. They may be good enough with their electronics, but they sure do skimp on their glue. Will have to get me some real glue and do this myself. Wasn’t going to sell this car anytime soon anyway, not under any scenario.

Zen Tracks [14] The Blues Project: Visions of Flowers

This isn’t one of my favorite from Kalb & friends. Somewhere in the lyrics was a thought that might have been something, somewhere in the music too; but the product feels rather unfinished to me. Here, it just happened to cross through the Zen on its way to the track listing I’ve started.

Underground Hobby

leave a comment »

Interesting, it might be, what could be built by collaborative effort on Google’s documents and spreadsheets. But having had a little fun with it on my own time, I really am going to have to lock it up and keep it private. With the work I do, there is no such thing as a public hobby that has anything remotely to do with what I do at my desk. I can debate against that as strenuously as I care to do, but at the end I myself would stand on the other side of my arguments. Other hobbies can go as public as they please, but the one that can easily monopolize most of my time and interest will have to remain mine alone.

I will keep it online – that much I have found interesting enough and useful enough to keep going. But it will not be online for any others to see or share or use.

Wet Streets

leave a comment »

Thursday – First commute of this workweek, after Monday’s federal holiday, Tuesday’s sick leave with the flu, and yesterday’s workday done from the house while still recovering from the flu.

Streets are wet from early morning rain, but rain during the commute is light, little more than a drizzle.

The back gate to my building’s garage had traffic cones blocking it. Trivial, it is, but I don’t like having to go around to the front entrance once I’ve come around the back way.
